Happy 5th Birthday turBo flow!

Wow, subhan'Allah - 5 years ago today I took the bold and brave step of 'putting my words out to the world'.

I had been writing all my life - some for academic, some for pleasure but I was always afraid of others reading my words - because that would give them an access to my heart.

Today I have a successful personal development blog and numerous eBooks released and releasing.

I'm also writing for other sites and magazines and will do more of that in 2014.

Thank you God for helping me take this first step and giving me the courage to express myself to the world - as with you by my side I fear no more - walhamdulilah! :)

To all of you who have visited and read my bog from across the globe - thank you and God bless y'all.

How To Study

***ALERT!!! For ALL Students!***

...and we're all students - yes YOU and I (whether that is formal education, self-study, personal development, etc.) I was studying and read the following so thought {SHARE the KHAIR} with everyone :)

How To Study:-

1. Schedule: time EVERY week for your study sessions

2. Motivate: yourself to CONCENTRATE each time you study

3. Focus: set the TONE for your study sessions

4. Achieve: set your GOALS and get the most out of each study period

5. Review: make sure that you UNDERSTAND what you have studied and that you can REMEMBER it.

6. Look Ahead: prepare for your NEXT study session

I know these are simple steps - but we can always do with a reminder - especially me! lol :)

...Yes, it's 3 years!!! turBo flow blog is 3 years old on 24th December!

Wow, you know something? I forgot!!! lol

I actually thought it was the 28th of December, but luckily I checked!

So, on this beautiful day I would like to say a big phat Jzkz/thanks for popping over and reading all these posts.

These posts are not specifically geared towards a specific genre - but basically what you read here is me - what I see, hear, feel and what really just makes me - my little world.

I'm so glad that YOU are a part of MY world because you make the land of turBo flow extremely beautiful - just by being YOU!

Ramadan brings us such peace and serenity. Everyone around us (ok, almost everyone) is continuously fasting, praying, attending mosque, halaqahs, etc. The Qur'an can be heard everywhere and everyone is rushing to finish theirs in a whole month.

But what we fail to understand is that every moment, every hour, every day, every month and every year is as special as Ramadan!

Ramadan is a 'Training-month' for us. Just like you would go to your new job and you would be given training. I mean, how can you perform a job when you don't know how to?!

Exactly that! Ramadan trains us for the whole year ahead.

However for many, for whatever reason, its 30 days and then khalas - that's it! And many fall into despair - because they can't 'feel' that feeling they hand in Ramadan.

Qur'an for Kids!

...Imagine a world where each child has a favourite book - a book they hold dear to their lives - a book which gives them comfort when they are upset, confused or feel lonely. A book which is like a gold mine - or a treasure box - and when they open it all the jewels and gems come pouring out and immerse their pure tiny souls. A book which is so precious that its words become embedded in their hearts and their tongues flow with such beautiful wisdom.

*Reflection and Pondering Moment*

We've all had a childhood favourite - mine were (and still are) 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' (I secretly imagine heaven to have a mixture of talking animals and trees and a sweet river of chocolate with everlasting gobstoppers - niiiiiiice - oh and I still love the original movies!).

These books - or whichever was (is) your favourite transports us from 'reality' as we know it into our 'own world' and there everything is just as we imagine and wish for it to be. Our books give us comfort, love, joy and a chance to explore and use our imagination which some adults (clearly not me - read above) forget they even have. This is where and when we develop a sub-conscious understanding of events and life - and though we may not understand it then - it stays with us and can have a profound effect on our lives, choices and actions - if our childhood experiences were extremely intense, that is.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if each child had a chance to develop the love for the words of Allah (swt) with such and same passion as they do with other books? Their tiny hearts memorising all the words - in their chosen language (if its not English) and developing a sub-conscious understanding of the Qur'an?

Some people may disagree - well you're more than welcome to disagree and I'm sure you have your reason and I respect that - we agree to disagree i guess - and say that there are many books written by fantastic writers about stories from the Qur'an and how children memorise Qur'an from a young age and its been happening for centuries. Yes it has, and yes it should continue - i fully support this - and I myself, like most of you reading this post, memorised some portions of the Qur'an (usually Juz Amma) at the young and innocent age.

But what I am referring to here is a full Qur'an translation in, for instance, the English language - which all the children can understand as it is written in child friendly or basic English language - simple and straight forward.

When the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet (pbuh) 1400 years ago, young children understood the message and strove hard to implement it in their lives - they understood the language.

Today, children are not exactly taught Arabic in the child friendly way - if it is not their first language - and so will not understand the same message, in depth message until at a much older age.

Children should still learn Arabic and the Qur'an in its pure form and they should still memorise it - even from that young age.

However, I believe that each child should also have a treasure book - in the language they understand - in basic and clear language - so they can master its meaning from a young age and become the true geniuses that they (or we all) have been created as.

...On a Mission...M3 - RTV Mission!

MERCY MISSION has launched a new and fantastic project - ‘Ramadan TV’ - the UK’s first Ramadan-dedicated channel - launched on 10th July 2010 on Sky Digital Channel 843. It will run up until the end of Ramadan. And shows will go LIVE from the 5th of August - insha'Allah! So, tune in and enjoy a line-up of some fantastic shows and did you guess? Yup turBo is producing a few things here and there for the station lol. I'm already enjoying the buzz of it all - and the creative juices continue to flow! I will be producing the 'National Ramadan Bus Tour' Roadshow (the bus will be stopping at a stop near you - London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford and Glasgow - launching 16th August), do pop by to get your free dawah literature and some dates to break your fast - and hey - why not take along all your non-Muslim friends and colleagues and really get into the Ramadan Spirit! The show will be aired on Ramadan TV - so if you can't make it, then definitely tune into watch all the fun! I'll also be producing a sisters show (but that's top secret, so you'll have to pop over to Sky Digital Channel 843 to see what it's all about!) - and here's turBo saying Ramadan Mabrook 2010! :D

Freedom of Speech and Movement!

Oh, the irony! - and talk about upholding the values and principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)!

And what really gets to me (and since this is my blog I can give my opinions) is the fact that I paid £3,600 to read for a Masters degree just this last year in LLM International Human Rights so I could work in the field of 'human rights' and do my part in spreading some peace in the universe. I guess the saying is true - 'help yourselves before you help others' - so I suppose I will need to help the UK understand what the values and principles of the UDHR are before I go around spreading peace!

Dr Zakir Naik, a renowned Indian speaker on 'comparative religion' and with a mission to spread peace across the globe has been excluded from entering the UK for his 'Peace Tour' - where he would have delivered speeches across London, Birmingham and Sheffield.

The New British Parliament suddenly sees him as a threat - why? Well, for spreading peace! (Exactly!).

The media has done a fantastic job as always to misinterpret people and to spread hate - taking many things out of context and using them where they feel appropriate - to cause more hate and problems.

And, as always, it is left to the peaceful citizens to pick up the pieces! Sometimes I wonder, 'how do these people sleep at night?!'

The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword!

A metonymic adage coined by English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839 for his play Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy. This proverb can have a different meaning to whomsoever reads it. It is a powerful proverb!

It has a lot of meaning for me - i came upon this proverb when i was very young (yes, I'm kinda old!) and has been with me since.

For me this proverb gives a lot of hope - hope for our world. A world which is plagued by wars, injustice and evil. Well, ofcourse, not everyone - but pick up a newspaper or switch on the news channel and what do you see? Exactly! Mostly its negative and depressing.

Many people across the globe have abandoned the power of the 'Word' - spoken and written and have resorted to violence - via means which kill - not just cause a few injuries - but actually kill!

However, many situations and issues in our world could have been and still can be resolved via written and spoken word - the Pen!

Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an in Surah Rahman verse 4 "He taught him eloquent speech". This eloquence is a blessing - a gift - and with it it can win many hearts - it can draw a heart closer to its Creator and give hope to those who have lost hope. This eloquence can also be transferred on to paper and invite people to good - explain situations to people - give examples and again ignite the light of hope in hearts which have become cold and dark.

The Prophet (pbuh) of Islam wrote letters to Kings and Rulers of different countries inviting them to the True Message and worship of One God. Although he was unlettered (could not read or write) he was inspired by the Divine in his speech and he had companions who were learned and could read and write. They wrote and his eloquence flowed on paper - and touched many a heart which was guided to the right - to their Lord.

Do not resort to violence - of any sort! That is what the proverb is saying to me. It is also saying that through the pen you can do so so much good. You can write inspiring articles, debates (with evidences) and discuss ideas. Honestly, where would we be without the pen? Its not just ink!

I love writing - online and offline. I love my pens and pencils and love buying them. I could use this blog to promote violence, hatred, evil and lewd talk (which is not me at all anyway!) and in return what would happen? Exactly - violence - which would be typed here. Or I could be a journalist and again people could write in - pen to paper - with their hatred - or if it was an inspiring piece then they could put pen to paper and write something positive.

Every action has a reaction and the pen can either make or break. It can either leave you inspired and pondering - or it can resort to violence.

Read through history books - and don't be fooled by wars of the past - read about their reasoning and when and where and how it was/is permissible to engage in 'war-fare' - not merrily 'such and such a community is violent or promotes violence'.

The Pen has proven its worth in the past and it still has a lot to write today and beyond - so use it and forget the sword - for once your dead - well your dead aren't you! Case closed!

Its not too late - pick up the pen and write! (good and positive that is!) :)

The very first word of the Qur'an is 'READ'! It didn't start with anything else - like 'prayers', 'charity' or even 'family life' - which is what we are all preoccupied with in our lives today - but it was READ! And who was it revealed to? Not a great scholar of his time, not a scientist, not a king or ruler of his land - but to an unlettered man - who went on to become the greatest man to ever have walked on our planet - he was the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) the mercy to all of mankind, the Prophet of Islam.

READ! Its a powerful word! Just take a minute - (just one) and reflect on this word - deeply....

Done? Ok.

What are you all doing right now? Reading this blog entry. Who taught us to read and how did we learn to read? Seems like a lifetime ago right? - because it comes to us naturally. But, once upon a time we all went through a process - to learn to Read - and once we mastered it - we became whole - complete humans. We were able to pick up any book and just read it - the words flowed on the paper and we could understand them.

Where would you and I be today if we couldn't read - lost? Looking for answers? Wasting our lives and searching for the purpose of our lives?

Read! And Your Lord Is The Most Generous! (Surah Alaq 96: 3)

For truly Allah (swt) is the Most Generous! He created us and knew what we would need to survive and how to fulfil our aim and purpose in this world.

By reading men and women have contributed to society, to the world and made many discoveries and scientific/medical/social/political advances.

There is a purpose for everything - and surely there was a purpose to 'Read, and your Lord is the most Generous!'

Allah (swt) blessed us with the ability to read - so we can read His words, the Qur'an - understand them and implement its teachings in our lives.

But did you know that there are many many people in this world who can't read? Young children in developing countries who have never even seen a book?

So we ask ourselves - are we actually fulfilling our obligations? If READ was the first word - and Allah (swt) wanted us to become the best of people - to discover hidden treasures - to made medical, scientific advances - which help humanity - then what are we doing in return to help humanity? Just because you and I went to school - doesn't mean everyone is this world has this opportunity. If people can't read then how will they understand Allah's words and do as He commands?

IQRA - And Your Lord Is The Most Generous! We need to re-read this word, understand it and take action. We need to help those who can't read the Qur'an to read it - and help them understand Allah's words and His Beauty. We need to help the children around the world to read - and just before doing that - we need to help our own children in our own families - help them to read - to understand - to implement - to appreciate - and fulfil our duty at home - then we need to get-together - maybe all of us reading this and set up a national and international 'Reading Foundation' - where we travel up and down our countries to help children read and travel to developing countries and countries suffering from wars - to help those children to read.

Allah (swt) is the most Generous and He has blessed us with this gift - the gift of reading - so lets share this gift and give it to those less fortunate than ourselves. Islam is seen by some as barbaric, a terrorist religion, who oppresses its women and girls - and you know there are many who will use the name of Islam to oppress our women and children - but we need to teach them - teach them the first words which were taught to out Prophet (pbuh) - Read! And maybe we can change their hearts - maybe they can't read so don't realise the Beauty of Allah (swt) and His religion - so it is our collective duty to help people to Read.

The Month of Ramadhan is the Month of the Qur'an - we read it, reflect upon its meaning, study it, promise to implement its teachings in our lives.

Just imagine...you pick up your copy of the Qur'an - open it - start to Read it - and....you can't read no more...you just can't....you try....but the words are alien to you and meaningless...and those tears role down your cheeks...but you can't do nothing - because the gift of reading that was blessed upon you has...gone...taken back by...the rightful Owner...

Is this what we want?...

This is how children and people around the world feel - those who can't read...and guess what? We've been keeping this gift to ourselves and haven't shared it with others - who just like you and me - what to open their copy of the Qur'an and read the words of Allah - the Mot Gracious, the Most Merciful...
