***Freedom of Religion v National Identity***
Monday 11th April 2011 - after much consideration, thought, debate, talk, demos - the burqa has been banned in France!
Burqa is a full face veil/covering - along with the full body covering.
Over and over again we have 'feminists' arguing that these women are 'oppressed' and are 'controlled' by their men - 'forced' to wear these coverings.
What is the whole purpose of feminism? And the feminist movement? It came about because they felt they were oppressed by men and had to adhere to the long skirts and wanted their 'freedom'.
Freedom in a mini-skirt? OK, that's 'YOUR' choice miss feminist - no one argues with your choice then why argue with these women who wish to cover their faces and don't want to be gawked at by strange men who have nothing better to do with their lives but to stare and fantasise about women and what they want to do with them.
And then we have countries such as France who want to promote and implement and 'condition' people to their 'national identity'! (really, they are just scared of the whole terrorist thing!)
These women in France and across the globe who cover their faces know their national identities - in fact - they 'know' their identities and that's why they are free to be themselves and not slaves of a conditioned doctrines which says that if you don't look like x, y or z then you don't fit in, you don't belong and you're not equal.
The ban in France will have adverse affects on the Muslim Women in that country as well as elsewhere.
Right now many people will be feeling angry and helpless - raring to protest and help these women - be their voice.
All I will say is that take it easy, don't get hot-headed and angry and if you want to help them and all others across the globe then do it in the best, proper and legal manner. Two wrongs don't make a right and their law may be illegal for Muslim women who choose their freedom - but don't reply in an illegal way. Always go back to the pure traditions of our beloved Prophet (pbuh), unite with the Ummah and work towards spreading the purity of the deen and highlighting these issues in the best manners. We will be accountable for our actions - so let not the devil do you over and make you act in an inappropriate manner - keep you cool and think, speak and act in accordance to the deen and also see how the pious predecessors would act and how they would go about solutions to problems - seek inspiration from them.
Also, let's not forget the power of dua - supplication - it is truly powerful.
Some issues may take a while to resolve, but Allah is most Merciful - keep tawakul!
We are all born free and everyone has the right to freedom of religion - as is laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - let's work towards greater good and tell our sisters we are with them - United We Stand - Freedom Of Religion for All!
